Highway Department

60 Rawson Road, Building "A"
The Town Highway Department is responsible for general maintenance of all Town dedicated roads. This includes paving and sealing, cleaning ditches, tree and brush trimming in the Town right-of-ways, mowing roadsides and plowing and salting during the winter months. In the spring the highway crew vacuums gutters and intersections where needed.

Superintendent Troy Paige
coordinates the work of his crew and oversees the Water Department. The Highway Department also manages the fuel system that provides fuel for the Town, Village, Fire Department and the Victor Farmington Ambulance Corps.

SAFETY REMINDERS
REMEMBER Do not follow Town trucks too closely. Keep a safe distance behind any large vehicle. If you cannot see their side mirrors, they cannot see you.

Winter
When the winter season approaches it is important that residents remember the following rules when snow arrives:
  • DO NOT plow snow in the road or across it. Keep it on your property and in an area that does not obstruct your view or that of drivers on the roadway. If you hire someone to plow for you, please be sure that they are aware of and follow these rules.
  • DO NOT let children play in snowdrifts near the road. It is difficult and often impossible for plow operators to see them.
MAILBOX REPAIR POLICY
Mailboxes should be shoveled out so they are clearly visible. Mailboxes are located in the Town's right-of-way and the Town is not legally responsible for damages to them. However, the Town will replace boxes damaged during plowing at no cost to the owner.

Replacements consist solely of a four-inch pressure-treated post and cross-arm, and an aluminum mailbox. Owners who wish to make their own repairs do so at their own expense. The Town will not reimburse them for expenses incurred in doing so.

Spring
Clean-Up
The Town of Victor Highway crew will be out cleaning up from winter plowing operations in early April, weather permitting. This includes repairing plow damage to yards, driveways, etc. within the Town's right-of-way. Topsoil repairs, reseeding and york raking are some of the processes that will be used. The vac-all truck will be out cleaning gutters, catch basins and checking storm water systems. Tree crews will be continuing with removals, pruning and trimming town wide.

Please call 585-924-3323 to report any lawn damages caused by snow plows.

Mulch Pile
There is a mulch pile behind the Highway Department at 60 Rawson Road. This will be accessible during normal recycle center hours.

To take advantage of this, you must have a recycle sticker.

See Recycle Center Page for details.
