PARK & TRAILS

•  NON-TOWN SPONSORED PROGRAMS

In the fall of 2004, the Town of Victor and Victor Hiking Trails, Inc. received a grant from the Ken Lou Foundation for the development of a multi-use trail system in our community.

To date, we have designed and constructed several miles of new, multi-use trails in Dryer Road Park suitable for hiking, running, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

In the summer of 2005, we completed construction on a trail gateway and kiosk for the park. Our trail map is available for download and at the kiosk located at the entrance to the park. The trails are marked and designated by varying skill levels.

Our Waiver and Responsibility Guidelines are also available for download and printing here, and forms are available at the park entrance.

Everyone using the trails is required to complete the waiver and leave it in the designated folder at the entrance to the park.

For more information on Victor trails, check out the
Victor Mountain Biking Club site.

CITIZENS' ADVISORY COMMITTEE here on our website.

In 2007 the Town Board adopted the updated 2007 Parks & Recreation Master Plan which is available in pdf format. It is 101 pages in length and requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to open. The software is free and available on the Adobe website.

PARK & TRAILS
Lehigh Crossing Park
The newest addition to the Victor Parks system is located off the Victor-Mendon Road across from Auburn Creek Driving Range. This donated parcel was dedicated June 2nd, 2001. Please join us in the planning for future of this park.

Fishers Park
Located in the hamlet of Fishers this 39-acre park is a diversity of passive and active recreation opportunities with two (2) tennis courts, a small ball field, fishing in Irondequoit Creek, a picnic area, and trails. The fenced tennis courts are located on Wangum Road.

Hiking trails meander through the park across wooded ridges, through wetland areas, and along the banks of Irondequoit Creek. Visitors can see a multitude of wildlife from deer, squirrels, and other woodland creatures to waterfowl and trout that spawn in the spring. A picnic area on the Fishers Road portion of the park includes an accessible fishing area, picnic tables, and grills.

Dryer Road Park
Opened in the spring of 2004, Dryer Road Park is now the home of a grass lacrosse field, a multi-purpose playing field, and a box lacrosse area. The park will link Victor's Native American past with our future through a trail system linking the Park to Ganandagon's Fort Hill property.

Visitors to the Park the spring of 2005 will notice many improvements to the Town's one hundred and thirty (130) acre park site. During the winter months the Department of parks and Recreation completed construction of a fifteen hundred (1,500) square foot park building, which includes year-round bathrooms, a concession area and pavilion, athletic equipment storage rooms and a maintenance bay.

The Dryer Road Park building was designed and engineered by Sniedze Associates of Canandaigua and constructed by LeFrois Builders and Contractors of Henrietta, New York.

Additional park improvements at Dryer Road this spring and summer will include swings for the playground area, a tile playing surface and safety netting for the box sports rink, grills for cookouts, and bleacher seating. F

Maryfrances Bluebird Haven
Located on the Victor-Egypt Road, the Maryfrances Bluebird Haven is a living classroom with an emphasis on preservation and restoration of New York State's official bird, the bluebird.

A trail of approximately one mile circles the property traveling through open fields and through woods. The trail allows visitors to see bluebirds in their natural habit. Please stay on the marked parameter trail only. Bluebirds should not be disturbed in any way.

Lehigh Trail
The Town's portion of the former Lehigh Valley Railroad is approximately two miles long and runs from the Auburn Trail connection at Phillips Road to the Mendon Townline, then on through Mendon and Rush. The somewhat rough trail is suitable for hiking and mountain biking.

Auburn Trail
The Town and Village received a Transportation Enhancements Program grant in the amount of 1.4 million dollars to facilitate the design and construction of the Auburn Trail from the Victor / Farmington Town line to Main Street in the Hamlet of Fishers.

The trail project will involve a ten-foot wide, ten-mile long scenic byway with a stone dust surface suitable for pedestrians and bicycles.

It is our intention to provide off-road parking areas, trail amenities such as kiosks and signage as well as links to other trails in Victor with this project. The Auburn Trail is sure to provide years of leisure time enjoyment for residents of Victor and those passing through our community. Please stay tuned for more information about the Auburn Trail project.

Boughton Park
Located in the Town of East Bloomfield, Boughton Park is owned by Victor, East Bloomfield, and West Bloomfield. Run by an independent Board of Directors with representation from all three towns, the park covers 330 acres, with 56 acres of ponds. Permits for the park can be obtained at the Victor Town Clerks office, 85 East Main Street. Please bring proof of residency. Permits are free to residents of the three owner towns.
