Collection Event
This event is held one day a year and usually advertised in the newspaper and posted on our calendar.  

This event is free and open to residents of Ontario County only. Pre-registration and proof of residency are required. The event is limited to the first 800 residents who register. No business or farm waste will be accepted. For more information call Ontario County Recycling at (585) 526-4420.

What Is Household Hazardous Waste?
Household hazardous waste is any discarded household material that can be classified as toxic, corrosive, flammable, or reactive. For example:
  • Acids / bases
  • Automotive products
  • Batteries
  • Cleaning products
  • Oil based paint
  • Pesticides
  • Thinners / strippers

Materials
These materials will be accepted at the collection event:
  • Acids
  • Adhesives
  • Aerosols
  • Antifreeze
  • Boric acid
  • Brake fluid
  • Cements
  • Charcoal lighters
  • Chlorine
  • Cleaning fluid
  • De-greasers
  • Disinfectants
  • Drain cleaners
  • Dry gas
  • Epoxies
  • Dyes
  • Fiberglass resins
  • Flea powders
  • Furniture strippers
  • Hair removers
  • Herbicides
  • Insect repellents
  • Lacquers
  • Lubricants
  • Mothballs or flakes
  • Motor oil
  • Nail polish removers
  • Oven cleaners
  • Oil based paints
  • Paint removers
  • Paint thinners
  • Permanent solutions
  • Pesticides
  • Photo chemicals
  • Rat poisons

Products containing mercury and florescent light tubes will also be accepted.

These materials will not be accepted at the collection event:
  • Ammunition
  • Automobile and truck tires
  • Compressed gas cylinders
  • Explosives or shock-sensitive materials
  • Freon containing devices (i.e. air conditioners, dehumidifiers)
  • Infectious waste
  • Medicines
  • Pathological wastes
  • PCBs
  • Radioactive wastes  

Casella reserve the right to reject any waste unidentified, deemed unacceptable by the disposal firm, or of excessive volume.
