9/1/16 Temporary Closure: Auburn Footpath by East Victor Road

The Auburn Trail footpath from Break of Day Road to East Victor Road is temporarily closed for construction. This includes the nice new bridge over Fish Creek.

There are barriers at each end closing it off. The detour is to use the main Auburn Trail along East Victor and Break of Day Roads. This section will be reopened as soon as it is safe to use.

This construction is an improvement and will eventually make this the main Auburn Trail which will eliminate the on-road section. The grading is being done in conjunction with a new housing development off East Victor Road. It is being done by the developer on a new trail easement.

Please be patient during this period of time and respect the neighboring properties by not walking around the closures. THANK YOU!

Auburn Trail Closure - East Victor Road Trail Concept

In 2012 a trail user survey was conducted. This was a joint effort of: Parks & Trails New York, NYS Trails Council and NYS Office of Parks & Recreation Historic Preservation.

In the fall of 2004, the Town of Victor and Victor Hiking Trails, Inc. received a grant from the Ken Lou Foundation for the development of a multi-use trail system in our community.

To date, we have designed and constructed several miles of new, multi-use trails in Dryer Road Park suitable for hiking, running, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

In the summer of 2005, we completed construction on a trail gateway and kiosk for the park. Our Dryer Road Trail Map is available for download, see maps, and at the kiosk located at the entrance to the park. The trails are marked and designated by varying skill levels.

Our Waiver and Responsibility Guidelines are also available for download and printing here, and forms are available at the park entrance.

Everyone using the trails is required to complete the waiver and leave it in the designated folder at the entrance to the park.

For more information on Victor trails, check out the Victor Mountain Biking Club site.

In 2007 the Town Board adopted the updated 2007 Parks and Recreation Master Plan which is available in pdf format. It is 101 pages in length.

Lehigh Valley Trail
This newly improved trail has a stone dust surface, which is suitable for hiking, running, biking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. The town’s portion of the former Lehigh Valley Railroad corridor is approximately two miles in length and travels from the Auburn Trail Connection at Phillips Road to the Victor-Mendon town line. There are convenient parking areas located at road crossings. The town and Victor Hiking Trails completed construction of a pedestrian and bicycle bridge on the former Lehigh Valley Railroad trestle at Phillips Road in November 2007. This feature enables trail users to enter the rear of Lehigh Crossing Park and enjoy its many recreational opportunities.

Auburn Trail
The town received Transportation Enhancement Program (TEP) grants totaling $2.3 million dollars for the design and construction of this multi-use trail. Project activities include stone dust surfacing of the entire trail, restoring a stone arch culvert in Fishers, providing way finding and interpretive signage along the trail, establishing several parking areas, and constructing plazas at key interest
