Village Brush Collection
Beginning the first Monday in April through the third Monday in November (weather permitting), the Village will provide curbside brush and yard waste collection following a monthly schedule (Listed below). In order to keep on schedule, it is essential that residents follow these procedures. Any brush which does not meet regulations, or is set out on the wrong date, will not be picked up. If you have any questions, please call the Village Hall at 924-3311.

Please place brush and yard waste at the curb no earlier than 6:00pm the day prior to your scheduled collection day and no later than 7:00am of your scheduled collection day to insure pickup.

Yard and garden waste may be placed in a can or receptacle; filled weight not to exceed 75 pounds. Residents interested in bagging their materials should use large paper leaf bags. These 30-gallon paper bags are available for purchase at most home and garden stores. DO NOT PUT BRUSH IN PLASTIC BAGS.

Larger brush and tree limbs should be bundled, with rope or twine (not wire), in bundles no longer than 4 feet long, or weighing more than 75 pounds.

Do not rake, sweep or place yard waste of any kind on street pavement or gutters as they may clog the drains.

An Important Message from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC)
A large percentage of typical household waste discarded in the fall consists of leaves and other yard waste. When left at the curb and picked up with other trash, this natural, organic material often times ends up in a landfill instead of being composted (nature’s recycling). This takes up space in our landfills that should be used for waste that has no other recycling or disposal options.

It is a violation for most landfills in the State to accept yard waste. A landfill may be subject to fines or penalties for accepting this material. In turn, a waste hauler may be fined by the landfill and/or have their contract suspended.

The DEC is making every effort to get the word out to the residents to make them aware of the yard waste landfill ban.

Please take advantage of your local municipality’s collection system for handling yard waste.

Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated.
