Travel Advisory - Route 96 & Lynaugh Road CLOSURE

TRAVEL ADVISORY - ROUTE 96 AND LYNAUGH ROAD INTERSECTION TO CLOSE NEXT WEEK FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW ROUNDABOUT IN VICTOR, ONTARIO COUNTY.
The New York State Department of Transportation today announced the intersection of Route 96 and Lynaugh Road in Victor, Ontario County, will close to all traffic beginning Monday, July 20, as part of an ongoing capital project that includes the installation of a modern concrete roundabout designed to reduce congestion and enhance safety.
The intersection is expected to be closed for approximately six weeks in order to complete the construction of the new roundabout, slightly northeast of the existing intersection, and tie-in the approach roadways. During this time, a detour will be posted for motorists to use Route 444, County Road 41 (Boughton Hill Road) and Route 332.
Lynaugh Road will also be realigned to improve the flow of traffic and reduce the grade of the roadway. A new closed drainage system will be installed at the intersection along with new sidewalks, retaining walls, lighting, landscaping and signage.
All construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change.
The Department has additional information online regarding roundabouts, as well as downloadable brochures, at https://www.dot.ny.gov/main/roundabouts.
Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
