[ARCHIVED] Revised Inspection Protocols for Protection of Public from COVID virus

The Village of Victor is committed to protecting its employees, residents, and visitors from the spread of the novel coronavirus.  As the Village looks to re-engage with the public as allowed under the Governor’s re-opening plans, we have made several policy changes.  These policies will remain in effect until further notice.

Pursuant to the Governor’s orders, non-essential construction is allowed to re-open after May 15, 2020.  We will commence inspections on Monday, May 18, 2020.

Scheduling

When scheduling appointments, staff will ask if anybody at the location has had any cases of coronavirus or flu-like symptoms in the past two weeks (e.g., cough and shortness of breath/ difficulty breathing).  If so, we cannot complete the inspection at that location until this condition is met.

Inspections will be scheduled for Tuesday or Thursday mornings between 9am and 12pm. Inspection appointments must be made a minimum of 24 hours prior to the requested time.

When we are inspecting a job site, we ask that all workers leave the area being inspected.  In some cases, a building representative will be asked to enter the building to facilitate communication or demonstrate operation of a feature; however, this will be done at the direction of the inspector at the end of the inspection.

Prior to entry into occupied residential homes, inspectors will verify if there are people in the home who are ill or are at-risk.  If not, inspectors will enter, following the safety guidelines shown below.

Inspectors

Inspectors will have masks and gloves.  They will wear masks when site conditions do not assure separation of at least 6 feet between individuals AND when inside occupied residential homes.  Gloves will be worn when they are in occupied residential buildings, and these will be discarded after each job site.

Inspectors are advised not to touch anything within buildings.  We ask that all doors are left open, and we will ask a building representative to demonstrate functionality of alarms, doors, etc.  Inspectors will use hand sanitizer prior to entering and after leaving sites.

Vehicles are assigned to specific inspectors, and there will be no passengers in these vehicles.  If a passenger is required, all persons will wear a mask throughout the trip.  Car interiors will be sanitized daily at the end of the shift.

We appreciate the public’s patience, understanding, and help with these measures to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus.
